Denmark collides with Sydney for a lacerating post-punk assault
Curated by 3NDLES5 – aka Mitch Tolman from Sydney’s post-punk heroes Low Life – Posh Isolation is the sound of Scandinavia crashing Down Under, of Nordic noise mingling with the music of Australia’s bar-rooms, band spaces and backyard bunkers. Across two nights of blistering rock, dreamy cult grooves and synth-pop, some of the most exciting artists from Denmark and Sweden join forces with local faves from Sydney and Melbourne at the Studio for Vivid LIVE.
Iceage
Riding high on the success of their expansive latest album, Seek Shelter (2021), the wildly adventurous Danish punk rockers are set to make their Sydney Opera House and Vivid LIVE debut. From their teenage beginnings in taut, terse punk missives, the band – led by vocalist and guitarist Elias Bender Rønnenfelt – dramatically morphed from the dark hardcore of early albums New Wave (2011) and You’re Nothing (2013) to country rock on Plowing Into the Field of Love (2014) and heavy psych on Beyondless (2018). Overflowing with grandeur and emotional release, Seek Shelter – produced by Spacemen 3’s fuzz master Peter Kember – found the band tangling with sweeping stadium anthems and cathartic power ballads. One thing’s for sure: it’s going to be an eclectic set.
Low Life
The local cult faves and Vivid LIVE alumni return to the Sydney Opera House stage with their bruising blend of raw punk energy and layered, guitar-driven wall of sound. Emerging from the local garage punk scene alongside Total Control, Royal Headache and the RIP Society label, Low Life have delivered a string of classic records, including the Australian Music Prize-nominated Downer Edn (2019) and the spiky, complex From Squats to Lots: The Agony and XTC of Low Life (2021).
DX
Making their Vivid LIVE debut, this low-key punk supergroup features DX from local legends Total Control, Josh Neutron from Berlin downer punks Diät, and Greta Balog, Michael Hassett and Micky Grossman of genre-bending Sydney post-punk outfit Den.

Our foyers will be open 90 minutes pre-show for Concert Hall and Joan Sutherland Theatre performances, and two hours pre-show for Western Foyer venue performances. Refreshments will be available for purchase from our theatre bars.
All Sydney Opera House foyers are pram accessible, with lifts to the main and western foyers. The public lift to all foyers is accessible from the corridor near the escalators on the Lower Concourse and also in the Western Foyer via the corridor on the Ground Level (at the top of the escalators). Pram parking will be available outside the theatres in the Western Foyer.

The Sydney Opera House Car Park, operated by Wilson Parking, is open and available to use. Wilson Parking offer discounted parking if you book ahead. Please see their website for details.
Please check the Transport NSW website for the latest advice and information on travel. You can catch public transport (bus, train, ferry) to Circular Quay and enjoy a six min walk to the Opera House.

Frequently asked questions
- The Lighting of the Sails during Vivid Sydney is a free event. You will not need a ticket.
- If you are attending a performance as part of the Vivid LIVE program, a valid ticket is required. It’s highly recommended that you purchase tickets in advance.
- In line with our venue security procedures, Opera House security will be scanning and checking bags prior to entering the building. Bags will be scanned by an x-ray machine. Please travel lightly and do not bring items that require cloaking e.g. handbags bigger than A4-size, backpacks and umbrellas, which are not permitted inside our venues.
- Yes, cloaking will remain available but it is strongly encouraged that you travel lightly and leave large, bulky items at home. Cloakroom attendants will use disposable paper tickets to keep track of your items.

The Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay precincts are very popular and attract large crowds during Vivid Sydney. Visitors are strongly encouraged to leave the car at home and use public transport wherever possible. During this time, there will be changes to transport timetables.
