Chefs of the House Danielle Alvarez

1 & 2 Aug 2024

During August four of Australia's leading chefs will curate and host a series of dinners in one of the Opera House's most exclusive, hidden spaces for a night of culinary delights.

As part of the Chefs of the House series, Trippas White Group with chef Danielle Alvarez will present Winter Harvest Symphony  – a journey into the heart of Australian farms and producers and an ode to the art of seasonal gastronomy.

Sharing the stories of the food and the farmers inside a venue as magical as the Sydney Opera House makes the evening all the more special.

Danielle Alvarez

Meet the Chef

Danielle is one of Australia’s most celebrated female chefs and the Culinary Director of events at the Sydney Opera House. Raised in a food-loving Cuban American family, she honed her skills under her mother and grandmother’s guidance before embarking on a professional culinary journey.

Danielle gained her passion for farm-to-table cooking from an impeccable pedigree of restaurants both in the US and Australia. Her culinary prowess was refined in esteemed establishments like Napa’s French Laundry, San Francisco’s Boulettes Larder, and Berkeley’s Chez Panisse, particularly under the mentorship of Alice Waters. In Australia, she made waves as the visionary force behind Paddington’s Fred’s.

Danielle is also the author of Always Add Lemon, a columnist for Good Weekend Magazine, and co-hosts The Good Food Kitchen alongside Adam Liaw. In 2022, after six years at Fred’s helm, Danielle pivoted to align her culinary endeavours with her core values, with her second cookbook, Recipes for a Lifetime of Beautiful Cooking.
