Master filmmaker David Cronenberg’s most personal film yet stars Vincent Cassel as a tech entrepreneur mourning the loss of his wife. Selected for Cannes Competition, and co-starring Diane Kruger and Guy Pearce, The Shrouds draws deeply from Cronenberg’s own grief over his wife’s death in 2017.

A brilliantly cerebral thriller about the physicality of grief.

The Sydney Premiere of David Cronenberg’s latest Cannes-selected film

Karsh (Vincent Cassel), 50, is a prominent businessman. Inconsolable since the death of his wife, he invents GraveTech, revolutionary and controversial technology that enables the living to monitor their dear departed in their shrouds. One night, multiple graves, including that of Karsh’s wife, are desecrated. Karsh sets out to track down the perpetrators.

Drawing as much from his 2022 sci-fi body horror Crimes of the Future as from his classic work such as Videodrome and eXistenZ, The Shrouds is a complex and deeply emotional film that thrills and confounds in equal measure.
