Australia Day Live is a free ticketed outdoor event. There is a limit of two (2) tickets per customer for the seated area at the Sydney Opera House forecourt.

The Australia Day Live concert at the Sydney Opera House and spanning Circular Quay showcases our nation’s best musical stars, combined with a fireworks and maritime show. Don’t miss this spectacular free event for the whole family, featuring a flotilla of yachts, light displays on the Opera House sails and Harbour Bridge, plus dazzling fireworks throughout the show. This concert, staged on land and water, is the perfect finale to our national day. Free tickets will be available Thursday, January 18.

Security
The safety and security of our visitors, patrons and staff is our highest priority. The Opera House works closely with the NSW Police and other relevant authorities to ensure a safe and secure environment.
As a condition of entry, bag inspections and electronic screening will be carried out at the entry to the site. Please follow the directions of Opera House staff and security.
Accessibility
The Opera House will be accessible to all visitors and ticketholders with disability or limited mobility. Accessible toilets and adult changing room facilities will be available.

Conditions of entry
All patrons and visitors attending performances at the Opera House must present their bags and personal belongings for visual inspection or x-ray screening as a condition of entry. Ticketholders may be electronically screened by Opera House security staff.
The following items are considered prohibited and will be confiscated if found:
- Alcohol
- Illegal substances including controlled, dangerous or illicit drugs
- Incendiary devices (flares, fireworks and smoke bombs)
- Glass items
- Knives and any sharp items
- Lasers
- Any items that may cause a public nuisance
- Any items that can be used as a weapon
- Any items which look like a weapon, this includes replicas and toys
- Unauthorized advertising material or flyers
- Drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
- Musical instruments which can cause a public nuisance such as Vuvuzelas, drums or any amplified music
- Large umbrellas (bigger than 125cm in diameter)
- Sunshades and tent structures, which are not permitted on site
- Any other item that in the opinion of Opera House security could cause harm or public nuisance
Ticketholders and visitors have the option to leave with their prohibited items should they not wish to forfeit them in accordance with the above ‘conditions of entry’. All confiscated and prohibited items will be disposed of, and will not be held. Possession of unlawful items will be reported immediately to NSW Police.
Security staff will monitor patrons for RSA and refuse entry to any intoxicated persons in accordance with the Liquor Act 2007.
Travelling to the Opera House
Visitors and ticketholders are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time and use public transport whenever possible when arriving for an event or performance. Large crowds are expected on the Opera House precinct and around the CBD, and significant road closures will be in place.

We strongly recommend using public transport wherever possible and allow extra travel time. The Opera House Wilson car park will be open, however it is expected to reach capacity early. Please note, entry and exit will be prohibited between 7:30pm – 10pm due to the planned closure of Macquarie Street. Once Macquarie Street reopens, please expect long delays due to congestion.

Covid-safe information
The health and wellbeing of everyone attending the Opera House is our top priority. We’re committed to making your experience safe, comfortable and enjoyable, with a number of measures in place including regular cleaning of high-touch areas, air conditioning systems that maximise ventilation, and hand sanitiser stations positioned in all paths of travel. Frequently asked questions
Access to the seated area within the Sydney Opera House Forecourt for Australia Day Live is strictly ticketed.
Those without a ticket are welcome to watch the concert on the big screen and see the fireworks and pyrotechnic displays over Sydney Harbour from Circular Quay for free.
If you would like to attend a performance at the Opera House or a party at one of our popular restaurants and bars, an entry ticket is required. High demand is expected and tickets are limited so patrons are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

There will be no pass-outs for Australia Day Live at the Opera House.
Australia Day Live gates open from 6pm with the concert beginning at 7:30pm. For ticketholders, we recommend arriving at 6pm to take your seat and enjoy the pre-show entertainment plus the food and beverage options available.
There are no ATM facilities available at the Opera House on Australia Day. Please bring a credit or debit card for any on-site purchases to assist with swift transactions and alleviating queue times. The closest ATM to the Forecourt is located near the Wilsons Carpark entrance.

Chairs are not permitted to be brought into the Australia Day Live concert. Seating is available on the Forecourt and Monumental Steps for ticket holders.

Australia Day Live is an all-weather event and there is no shade available in the public viewing area on the Forecourt. Visitors are encouraged to check the weather and come prepared. Wear a hat, sunscreen and protective clothing and bring your own water bottle (no glass). In the event of rain, please bring your own raincoat or poncho.
BYO food and water bottles are permitted as long as there is no glass. Alcohol is not permitted. Water stations and toilets will also be available. There will also be food trucks open from 6pm until 9:15pm serving snacks, small plates and desserts with vegan and vegetarian options available. A fully licensed bar will be also be on site serving non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. Please bring a valid ID.
