Global synth-pop pioneers return

From their beginnings in Britain’s post-punk scene to their pioneering synth-pop and dance era, New Order have maintained their status as one of the most acclaimed and influential bands of all time. After stunning audiences with a performance alongside the Australian Chamber Orchestra at Vivid LIVE in 2016, the electro rock icons are making their long awaited return to the Sydney Opera House for two huge nights on the Forecourt.

Rising from the ashes of post-punk legends Joy Division, New Order took their former band’s cutting-edge rock and pushed it further into the realm of dance rhythms, resulting in an instantly recognisable sound. Their 1983 smash “Blue Monday” – an instant dance-floor filler to this day – became the best-selling 12-inch single of all time, while hits such as “Temptation”, “Bizarre Love Triangle”, “True Faith” and the anthemic “World in Motion” – to name just a few – continue to impact new generations of listeners and musicians. Their multi-platinum albums include Power, Corruption & Lies (1983), Low-Life (1985), Technique (1989), Get Ready (2001) and the indispensable singles compilation Substance (1987). The band are currently preparing a deluxe edition of their classic 1986 record Brotherhood.

In an unforgettable live show, the band will perform their biggest hits from a four-decade, 10-album career – including “Blue Monday”, “Temptation”, “Bizarre Love Triangle”.
