A modern master of jazz percussion returns

After an electrifying headline performance in Vivid LIVE 2022 as part of the Astral People celebration on the Northern Broadwalk, acclaimed British jazz drummer, composer and producer Yussef Dayes is set to return to the Sydney Opera House for his highly anticipated debut in the Concert Hall.

Widely regarded as one of the most innovative jazz drummers in music, the South East London-born artist first came to attention as part of United Vibrations, whose fusion of Afro-beat and progressive jazz was powered by his expressive, freestyle beats. In 2016 he joined forces with Kamaal Williams in the thrilling jazz-funk duo Yussef Kamal, and in 2020 collaborated with singer-songwriter Tom Misch for the top-five charting Blue Note release What Kinda Music, a chameleonic trip through acid jazz, funk, hip-hop and electronica. Dayes’ 2022 release, The Yussef Dayes Experience Live at Joshua Tree, accrued further acclaim before releasing his debut solo studio album in September 2023, Black Classical Music, which features Chronixx, Masego, Jamilah Barry and more.

A breathtaking live performer, Dayes is renowned for his unpredictable, freestyling beats and head-rattling rhythms. This is your chance to experience one of the world’s most compelling live jazz performers, in concert for one night only.
