An audio description service to enhance the experience of customers who are blind or have low vision is offered for selected performances at the Sydney Opera House. This is a live commentary of the visual elements of a performance, by trained audio describers. Audio description is relayed via a free headset and receiver linked to the FM radio system.

Cast

Originating from Sydney, rising star Abigail Adriano began her performance training at the age of six. Her passion for singing led her to study both classical and contemporary under the guidance of Peter Bodnar.
Abigail’s first theatrical experience was in Tim Minchin’s Matilda the Musical in the role of Alice.
On the small screen, Abigail played the co-leading role of Rose in the Netflix/ABC television series The Unlisted. She also appeared on The Voice Kids Australia and has worked on numerous advertising campaigns.
Abigail is excited to be making her professional lead role debut as Kim in the 2023 Miss Saigon Australian Tour. She would like to thank her family, mentors and T&E Management for their ongoing support and guidance.

An embodiment of queer Asian excellence, SMM has performed at Gay prides all over the world, including the UK, Amsterdam, New York and most recently headlining at Sydney World Pride 2023. He/she/they is well known for pushing boundaries outside the heteronormative and is beauty and fashion ambassador to international brands Lulu Lemon, Camilla with love, Fenty Beauty & Jean Paul Gaultier and featured in Vogue Australia for their pride campaign, Get Used To It.
They won over our hearts on shows such as Eurovision 2022 and X Factor UK 2015 with their standing ovation rendition of Freddy Mercury’s The Show Must go On, and performed in O2 arena London. Even Simon Cowell said “This Kids..A STAR!! Theatre credits in Australia include Angel Dumott Schunard in RENT the Rock Opera 2022 directed by Shaun Rennie and part of the original cast of Helpmann Award winning show Sweet Charity 2013, directed Dean Bryant at Hayes Theatre. They also recently released their disco pop anthem with St Croix My Lovers hitting a #5 peak on the Aria Charts advocating LGBTQ+ love & equality. (Stream on Spotify) SMM is purring with excitement for their return to Opera Australia having last been with the company in The King & I 2014, their first tour/show after graduating WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts) in 2013.

Nigel Huckle is an award-winning Australian-American performer based in New York. He has performed in iconic venues across the world from the Dubai Opera in Cameron Mackintosh's production of Les Misérables, to the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro with The TEN Tenors, and here at home in the Opera House in West Side Story with Opera Australia.
He recently won a San Diego Theatre Critics’ Circle Award for his run as Fabrizio in The Light in the Piazza at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido.
Other credits include Lt. Cable in South Pacific (Theatre Under the Stars, Houston), Jimmy in Thoroughly Modern Millie (The Production Company), and Nick in the Australian premiere of The Handmaid’s Tale (Australian Contemporary Opera Company).
Nigel holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Shenandoah Conservatory, is proudly represented by IWM and is a member of MEAA Equity.

Nick Afoa is a New Zealand-Samoan baritone excited to return to the theatrical stage here in Opera Australia’s Miss Saigon. In his early years, he represented NZ in rugby, winning a Junior Rugby World cup title in South Africa. After an injury, he ventured into the performing world. His theatre debut was exactly 10 years ago in Sydney’s Capitol Theatre playing the role of Simba in The Lion King in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. He was then cast in the role in London’s West End for five years. Since returning to NZ, he has cast and co-directed the original production of Pacifica the Musical, which premiered in Auckland 2022. He made his film/TV debut in a feature film Mysterious Ways, which will be released later this year.

Helpmann Award winner Kerrie Anne Greenland holds a Bachelor of Arts Music Theatre from WAAPA and a Masters of Music Opera Performance from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. A versatile performer across music theatre, cabaret and opera, Kerrie Anne is one of Australia’s leading ladies of the stage.
Kerrie Anne’s opera roles include Elle in La Voix Humaine, Drusilla in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Euridice in Orpheus in the Underworld and Miss Wordsworth in Albert Herring.
Music theatre roles include Eponine in Les Misérables (Helpmann Award), Violet in Side Show, Cassandra in Paris: A Rock Odyssey, Dom in The Things Between Us, Esther Smith in Meet Me in St Louis and Patsy Cline in Always Patsy Cline.
Concert and cabaret credits include Everything’s Coming Up Sondheim for Spears Entertainment, Rain or Shine, Pictures: Songs from Movie Musicals and Carols at the House for Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and Orchestra.
As well as her career in theatre, Kerrie Anne is a proud mum and wife, and an Early Childhood Teacher.

Laurence Mossman is making his Australian debut in Miss Saigon. A proud Filipino-Kiwi born in Auckland, he earned an honours degree in Music at the University of Otago. After graduating, Laurence moved to Manila, Philippines to establish an international career in the performing arts. After being a resident performer at Resorts World Manila for two years in the vocal trio Primo, he made his professional theatre debut alongside Broadway legend Lea Salonga in Atlantis Theatrical’s Fun Home in 2016. Recent highlights include Charlie Price in the Manila run of Kinky Boots and Young Ebenezer in A Christmas Carol.

Kimberley most recently was seen on stage in Mary Poppins, covering both roles of Mary Poppins and Mrs Corry for Michael Cassel Group (MCG). For Disney International, Kimberley also played Anna (cover) in Frozen: the Musical and Princess Jasmine (cover) in Aladdin. Kimberley starred as Brianna in the original cast of hit Australian musical Fangirls for Queensland Theatre/Belvoir Theatre. Kimberley’s most recent credit with Opera Australia was playing Francisca (and Anita cover) in six-time Helpmann nominated West Side Story, on Sydney Harbour. Kimberley played the role of Kimberley in Triple X for the Sydney Theatre Company. Kimberley’s screen credits include feature film Don’t Tell (dir. Tori Garret) and ABC series Harrow. Kimberley trained at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

Our foyers will be open 90 minutes pre-show for Concert Hall and Joan Sutherland Theatre performances, and two hours pre-show for Western Foyer venue performances. Refreshments will be available for purchase from our theatre bars. Please remember to maintain physical distancing whilst consuming drinks in our foyers.
All Sydney Opera House foyers are pram accessible, with lifts to the main and western foyers. The public lift to all foyers is accessible from the corridor near the escalators on the Lower Concourse and also in the Western Foyer via the corridor on the Ground Level (at the top of the escalators). Pram parking will be available outside the theatres in the Western Foyer consistent with COVID-safe rules.
Getting here
The Sydney Opera House Car Park, operated by Wilson Parking, is open and available to use. Wilson Parking offer discounted parking if you book ahead. Please see their website for details.
Please check the Transport NSW website for the latest advice and information on travel and COVID-19 safety measures. You can catch public transport (bus, train, ferry) to Circular Quay and enjoy a six min walk to the Opera House.
Covid-safe information
The health and wellbeing of everyone attending the Opera House is our top priority. We’re committed to making your experience safe, comfortable and enjoyable, with a number of measures in place including regular cleaning of high-touch areas, air conditioning systems that maximise ventilation, and hand sanitiser stations positioned in all paths of travel. We encourage you to wear a mask in indoor settings or when physical distancing can’t be maintained, and please stay home if you feel unwell. Nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of everyone on site, and we are closely following NSW Health guidelines and advice. The Sydney Opera House is registered as a COVID Safe business with the NSW Government. As you move around the Opera House, practise physical distancing (1.5 metres whenever possible) and follow the guidance provided by our staff and signage.

As the ticket purchaser, you are responsible for recording the contact details of your guests. Contact information will only be used for the purposes of contact tracing, if required, and will be deleted at least 28 days after your event.
Frequently asked questions
Ticket purchases and collection at our Box Office is discouraged and eTicket or postal delivery methods should be used, wherever possible. However, if you are collecting your tickets from the Box Office, we recommend doing this at least 60 minutes before the event starts. If you have already received your tickets, the venue doors will be open 45 minutes pre-show for Joan Sutherland Theatre performances, and 30 minutes pre-show for Western Foyer venue performances. Please take your seats as soon as you arrive.
If you are late, we will seat you as soon as we can and, where possible, in your allocated seat. However, to reduce movement in the venue as well as minimise disruption to the performance and other patrons, ticketholders may be seated in an allocated latecomer’s seat. Please be aware that some events have lock-out periods. In these cases, latecomers will be admitted at a suitable break in the performance. On occasions, this may not be until the interval, or at all where there is no interval.

In accordance with our venue security procedures, Opera House security will be scanning and checking bags under the Monumental Stairs, prior to entering the building. Bags will be scanned by an x-ray machine, and staff will wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling your belongings, such as gloves. Cloaking facilities will be open 60 minutes pre-show for Concert Hall and Joan Sutherland Theatre performances, and 60 minutes pre-show for Western Foyer venue performances. However it is strongly encouraged that you travel lightly to minimise contact and queuing. Any bags larger than an A4 piece of paper will need to be checked into the Cloak Room.

By becoming a smoke-free site, the Opera House seeks to reduce exposure to harmful second-hand smoke, as well as minimise the impact of smoking on the environment, including litter and pollution of the surrounding marine environment.
