Learn the art of storytelling in tiny box form

In this fun and engaging workshop inspired by DOG MAN: THE MUSCIAL, students create their own characters, jokes and stories in comic book and graphic novel form.

In this workshop, students will:

  • Learn about the structure of comic books – how to read a page (is it up and down or left and right?!), build the story and insert dialogue using word balloons.
  • Develop sketches and illustrations for their characters and setting using simple drawing materials.
  • Use compositional devices to create interest in their comic frames – the power of a close up can create drama or intrigue, or perfectly positioned onomatopoeia bubble can create an unexpected surprise!
  • Be inspired by writers and artists, like Dav Pikey, Maurice Sendak, Alice Oseman and Quentin Blake to create their own comics, zines and graphic novels.

This workshop pairs nicely with a ticket to DOG MAN: THE MUSCIAL. Please book both experiences to enjoy your Day Out at the House.
