Sleaford Mods

2 June 2023

In the Joan Sutherland Theatre

Contemporary Music

Railing against austerity-era Britain with rage and wit, Nottingham post-punks Sleaford Mods descend on the Joan Sutherland Theatre in all their sound and fury for their Sydney Opera House debut.

The Mods’ live show is a bewildering joy from start to finish… you’ve never seen anything like it.

NME

Revolutionary rage for a troubled age

Blasting out of a deeply divided Britain with a ferocious combination of punk energy, razor-sharp lyrics and abrasive electro beats, Nottingham duo Sleaford Mods have become one of the nation’s cult bands of the moment: unapologetic champions of working class anger in a post-Brexit, austerity-era landscape.

Drawing on the politically-charged power of bands like The Clash, The Jam and Public Enemy, singer-songwriter Jason Williamson and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Fearn broke out with their 2014 album Divide and Exit, which showcased their minimalist punk-hop, leading to collaborations with Leftfield and The Prodigy and a high-profile fan in Iggy Pop. With a dedicated fandom and a reputation for explosive live performances, the band crashed the UK top 10 with their follow-ups Eton Alive (2019), All That Glue (2020) and Spare Ribs (2021).

On the back of their blistering new record, UK Grim, Sleaford Mods will make their Sydney Opera House debut at Vivid LIVE, playing one very loud, very raucous show in the Joan Sutherland Theatre. Expect rage, realness, and plenty of rowdy Northern humour.
