Red Rack’em (UK), Cousin (Live set)

Beloved Sydney selectors and Vivid LIVE favourites Mad Racket  are back with another night of deep house grooves and techno anthems, with by special guest UK artist Red Rack’em and local ambient magician Cousin. 

Harbour city tastemakers for more than 25 years and Vivid LIVE’s favourite selectors for more than a decade, Sydney dance music collective Mad Racket – DJs Ken Cloud, Simon Caldwell, Zottie and Jimmy James – have come a long way since forming at a Bondi Junction squash club a quarter of a century ago. The crew return to the Sydney Opera House this year for another iconic Studio Party, this time featuring special guest UK underground guru Red Rack’em and local techno hero DJ Cousin. If you haven’t been to a Mad Racket night, this is your chance to experience one of the city’s best nights of deep dancefloor euphoria.

Red Rack’em
Beloved by everyone from Moodymann to Elton John, multi-hyphenate UK artist, DJ and producer Danny Berman – better known as Red Rack’em – is one of the most respected figures in the UK underground dance music scene; the DJ’s DJ. His 2016 smash Wonky Bassline Disco Banger has become nothing short of a modern classic, while killer records like In Love Again, How I Program, Kalimba and Tomato Pope have kept dancefloors moving since. A popular broadcaster with guest spots on NTS and BBC Radio 1 for Pete Tong, he’s equally at home playing deep house in Detroit, disco boogie in London or raw techno in his adopted home of Berlin. 

Cousin
Sydney/Eora-based artist Jackson Fester, aka Cousin, is a DJ whose feel for deep house and ambient techno summons surreal sonic landscapes, where spacious atmospherics and subterranean bass commune with the hypnotic rhythms of nature. From playing warehouse parties to curating expansive live sets, this fast-rising star has brought his magic touch to clubs across North America, the UK, Europe and Asia.
