Useful information:
Europe's most multifaceted brothers of Real House Music return to Sydney
A Sydney underground icon, Barney Kato has been bringing people together on the dance floor for 25 years with his expansive, intuitive DJ sets – an eclectic mix of breakbeat, techno, acid, electro, house and anything else that moves – and regular events such as Alien and Breakbeat Chaos. This year, he returns to Vivid LIVE for another highly anticipated Studio Party, and he’s bringing along Norway’s legendary Sex Tags crew – brothers DJ Fett Burger and DJ Sotofett – to send the audience into hyperspace.
Sex Tags
Originally simply known as Sex Tags, the uncompromising Norwegian brothers DJ Sotofett and DJ Fett Burger have established a reputation on the global dance music scene for their unpredictable forays into the sonic worlds of Techno, Dub, Disco and Real House Music, often paralleled with any other matchable genre – if not all styles morphed into the space of one track. Championing a diversity of sounds across Techno and House, their Sex Tags Mania label has released everything from obscure Norwegian Disco to the worlds most minimal Techno vinyl record, while their Sex Tags Amfibia label leans toward Dub, Experimental, Jazz and Psychedelic sounds.
Barney Kato
Beloved Sydney DJ Barney Kato has long been an explorer in dance music’s endless realm, drawn to the futuristic edges of sound and its power to reshape dancefloors into brand new experiences. From his storied curation at Club 77, Alien and Breakbeat Chaos to spinning at Field Day, Splendour in the Grass, Subsonic and Club Mince, his sets are transformative, distilling a mix of classic sonic fragments and cutting-edge elements from across the dance music spectrum. Among his many accomplishments, he has DJ’d at the Big Day Out and Nevereverland alongside Daft Punk, hosted a long-running FBi Radio show, and had the honor of spinning at the Sydney Boiler Room.
